Cape Horn

What do you expect to see at the southern most tip of South America? How do you expect it to feel, and what emotion do you expect to experience when you are here? What do you expect it to sound like?
“The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart.” – Helen Keller
What you see and feel will be different depending on the time of year, time of day, weather for the day, your emotional state at the time, and your expectations. A camera can only record so much. A video recording with sound can record a little more.
Here are some facts. If you look closely at a map or google earth, you will see that south America is surrounded and composed of many islands and fiords. The southern most is Hornos Island. It marks the northern boundary of Drake’s Passage between AntarcticaIMG_0922 map (800x707) and South America. There are a few other common passages between the Atlantic and Pacific. Before the opening of the Panama Canal, the communities along these passages did a lot of business with the shipping industry. Now other sources of income are needed because the world we are creating continues to change.

  1. Love your philosophy and insight into lateral thinking. Nothing like travelling the world and have new experiences that help create new thinking. Is the ice melting more down (?) there too?
