African animals at the Toronto Zoo

One region of the Toronto Zoo is dedicated to African animals. Some you may recognize because they have been popularized for their uniqueness. Have you heard of the common eland before?

Common Eland
White Lion
Rhinoceros

Watch the giraffe in the video below, she moves like a tall slim fashion model on the runway, walking to the end, making a turn and posing for pictures.

Finishing up this post is an animal that you may not have seen before but it is as unique in its appearance as any of the others. It is the Red River Hog.

  1. Wonderful photos as always, Doug. I don’t think I’ve seen a white lion or Red River Hog before. I’ve always wondered about the markings on zebras and giraffes- how they develop or how deep they go.

  2. As an African living abroad, seeing these beautiful animals reminds me of home. The giraffe’s elegance and the Red River Hog’s uniqueness truly capture Africa’s spirit. Wonderful post, thank you Doug for sharing.

Thanks for looking at the pictures. Tell me what you liked, or didn't.
