Imagine that you are sitting in your window seat looking at the coast of Norway pass by as your cruise ship makes its way to Iceland. This is for those viewers who are vicarious travellers or is it for virtual travellers?
Since you are viewing through a window, there are reflections of the lights and people moving about in the dining room. I have replaced the sounds of the dining room with something a little more relaxing. Here is a video to give you a feel of the weather and motion of the ship. < The video can be expanded to full screen and the playback speed changed to suit your mood. >
On this cruise, like most others, the ship leaves port in the evening. However this day, unfavourable weather in the North Sea cancelled the stop at our next port in the Shetland Islands so we stayed in Alesund overnight and left a little after noon. Normally we would be in the main dining rooms, and it would be dark outside. This was a rare opportunity to take some video footage of the sail-away.
The next video is in a portrait format to show the tops of the cliffs as we sail by. You might have to adjust the screen size to see it all.
Hey Doug, thanks for the sail and Norway. I don’t expect to cruise or see Norway again. But you never know.
