The Canada Day Parade of 2023 is very much like the parade of Canada Day 2022. If you look back at the post from last year, you will see the similarities. I did get a feeling that this year may be showing some signs of a more environmentally friendly community.
I had the impression that there were fewer “floats” on the back of large trucks and that they were being replaced by people walking as a group rather than riding. These were usually cultural groups or interest groups.
Of course there were the veterans marching and the marching bands.
The horses of the police department are always a favourite. Do you have any nostalgic feeling for horses?
The town mayor was thinking about the environment with this choice of transportation, but I have not seen the research that compares the pollution from this mode of transportation to the other modes. He is not setting a very good example about fastening seat belts and not standing in the back of a moving vehicle.
Compared to the previous year, there were many of the same people in the same costumes. Why not show off that costume that you have invested so much time and money in creating. After all, you still fit into it and how many opportunities do you get to show it off. I did miss the clowns.
Likewise, all of the antique cars are brought out on parade, it is a good reason to dust them off and make sure they are running well for the summer season.
Here is an early peek at the new, one person vehicle that Frank Stronach has designed and manufactures for the new demand that he envisions will make him famous again. He has been a very big player in the manufacture of all types automotive parts. He is advertising his Organic Food store and restaurant, and has an interest in race horses.
But, what is a parade without the sounds of the marching bands? Here is a short video to fill in that gap and show you more.
Are there any parades near you in your community this long holiday weekend? Tell me in a comment after the next video.

If you want to hear more, here is a BONUS VIDEO that lasts a little longer and shows even more of our little town’s celebration.
Great commentary. I enjoy your travel logs, Doug.
Thanks Ada. It is a great way for me to relive the adventures.
