This year marks the return of the Canada Day Parade in our town. It was a cloudy day but that meant that it was not too hot. The families in town came out to see what the organisers had been able to pull together for us.
Like most parades, there is a police car at the beginning to clear the way. This is also a great opportunity to see the town crier.
Shouldn’t every parade be lead by a flag? How about a full color guard.
Marching bands from the neighbouring Legions were coordinated so that they could possibly be part of two or three community parades. Our parade was in the morning and another community might have their parade in the afternoon.
And of course, there will be colourful costumes, horses, cars and trucks. I am saving those pictures for another post but thought I should tie this post into the previous one about butterflies.
Hi Doug, Happy belated Canada Day! Wonderful pictures of the Canadian parade flag-bearing team, the marching band, dancers, and colorful costumes. Thank you for sharing. Sending love. Jaime
Thanks Jaime. More of the same coming up.
Sounds like a fun and colorful parade!
Do you live in Nova Scotia, or what is the relation to the bagpipe band? I love to hear them play.
Thanks Tamara, actually the band is from Uxbridge, Ontario. There are Scotsmen all over the world. 🤡
WOW I could almost hear the bagpipes playing, those are my favorite in a parade. What gorgeous costume colors, love the butterflies! Thanks for taking me along to the parade!
The butterfly dresses made them look like they were hovering above the pavement
Doug, thanks for a tour of the Canada Day parade! But above all, thanks for the/my first ever sight of the butterfly costumes. Wow!
