As Sardinia takes advantage of its warm Mediterranean climate and develops to host tourists, once traditional fishing villages now become beautiful resort towns with public beaches and harbours for sailboats.
As the sign says, we could have taken a Taxi to get here but our bus carried more tourists. Cannigione has shops and restaurants around the beach and separated from the beach and park by a parking lot. How well thought out!
Cannigione is on the western side of the largest and deepest “Ria”, an inlet at the mouth of a river. It is a popular spot for snorkelling and scuba diving. Just past the beach and pier is a large harbour for private boats. Our time here was limited so I stayed near the beach and did not venture down to take pictures of the boats.
Some of the local residents were enjoying the above average warmth of the sun on the beach on the first day of November.
Listen to some words from our tour guide as we drove into the parking lot.

If You like panoramic pictures, here is a gallery of them of the park, if not, skip ahead. (gallery pictures can be viewed full size.)
The centre piece of the park is this metal sculpture.
They have built a playground with a slide and climbing activities for the children who get bored with the beach. The hill in the background may be a climbing activity for the adults.
At the end of the boardwalk are more places to stop and buy refreshments and perhaps cool off if the temperatures are too hot.
Can you imagine this boardwalk covered with deck chairs and umbrellas? How about a swim in the water, are you up for some snorkelling or scuba diving?
You share have excited trips and beautiful photos! Those rock mountain tops are awesome.
Thanks Martha. It is great reliving the moments that flash by so quickly when on vacation. Four days of posting pictures from a four hour bus tour.
