Devil's Island Pilot

Before we can approach the islands, we have to allow the local pilot to board the ship. Only two of the islands allow visitors and at some times no visitors are allowed on the islands because of satellite launches occurring from the mainland. Royal Island has a station for tracking the missile launches.

This is the “taxi” that brings the pilot to the ship.

In case you wondered, this is what the islands look like from space. Probably taken by one of the satellites that were launched nearby. (Thanks to Google satellite view.)

Royal Island to the left and St. Joseph toward the bottom.

Watch the video below to see how the pilot gets onto the cruise ship.

From little boat to big ships.

  1. I love looking at the view from the cameras they place near the wheels on planes.. and those are cool facts about the island that you mention…

Thanks for looking at the pictures. Tell me what you liked, or didn't.
