Durban

Durban South Africa, previously Natal, is a growing metropolitan city in the province of KwaZulu-Natal. It is the third-largest city by population in South Africa after Johannesburg and Cape Town.

The Durban city hall dates back to Durban’s colonial times. It was completed in 1910 and is the center of many cultural activities in the center of the city.

Like many cities around the world, Durban has a variety of neighbourhoods and street design.

Durban is connected to the other cities and towns by a network of modern highways and an electric train service. Trucks are continually bringing containers of goods to and from the port.

South Africa has an extensive food network with a lot of food grown locally. Farmers are able to buy farm equipment manufactured near Durban.

Since the end of apartheid, the population of the city has grown rapidly. People have moved into the city where they were not allowed in before. Government has been working to provide affordable housing and policing the shanty towns but with people moving to the city out of desperation and with a jobless rate conservatively posted at forty percent, crime and violence are a result.

The city does have its shopping malls.

And there are sports arenas.

There are hospitals and universities and apartment buildings.

And of course, it all centers around the port and the shipping of containers. A new passenger terminal is being built with investments from MSC Cruise Lines and should open in early 2020.
