La Plage de la Baie du Nord Ouest
That is the French name of the beach in North West Bay. If you look at the map of the island it might be better to call it the North East Bay. It is a distinctive cut into the coast and it provides a sheltered bay and sand beach for swimming and sunbathing. The day we visited was not a day for sunbathing as you will see from the dark clouds and rain out over the Ocean.
In the map above, the bay is to the left of center and because of the straight lines of its sides, I cannot help but wonder if it was cut and created by man. On the map, you may also notice on the top right a common North American convenience store called Esso On the Run.
Our view of the bay was from the road and the inside of the bus. The driver did a slow drive-by so we could get pictures. Fortunately, I was seated on the best side of the bus to get these pictures.
In the distance, at the mouth of the bay, the picture shows the dark rain clouds and white-capped breakers of the Atlantic waves. They look like a thin white line just to left of the center.
A few minutes later we had driven past the beach and were driving along the Atlantic coast. The waves were crashing on the shore but it did not stop the locals from playing or fishing in the surf.
The Atlantic Ocean alongside the N5 road northwest of Moule This may be considered a calm surf. Two people together in the surf. Four more people wading into the ocean. There may be some food to be gathered near the shore.
In the town of Moule is a picturesque bridge over the river where it empties into the Atlantic.

The restaurant may be open but there are only a few customers or maybe those are the owner’s and employees’ cars.
Guadeloupe is a unique Caribbean Island where you can spend time on the beach or on the water and practice your French language skills.
Doug…I want to go to all the places you’ve taken pictures of. That water is so beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for the comment. When this challenge is over maybe you will find time to plan a vacation. Until then, keep blogging on.
Your photos are gorgoues Doug! They look more like paintings!
I have not experimented with the techniques of making them look more like paintings. Sometimes they start looking more like postcards.
I would definitely like to spend some time in Guadeloupe. You take good pictures and must keep good notes.
Hi Lily, the photos are the notes. I do the research when I write the blog post. It is like visiting the places again.
