It makes sense that a seaport like Busan, South Korea, would have a seafood market. Now I do not like to eat fish. I do not even like the smell of it. Several of the exclusion I have taken from the cruise ships often include a tour through a fish market. I have to say this was one of the cleanest and least odorous ones I have walked through. I think the N95 mask helped to reduce the smells because when I had to lower it to scratch my nose, I did notice a difference. I think this one used more water to flush the tanks and floor continuously.
Not all of the fish were live and in tanks, many were lying on the counters.
Our guide led us quickly through the indoor market. You have no choice but to keep up as you watch the video. Your computer may be able to take advantage of the option to watch at a slower speed if you want to look at some tables a little longer.
Some of the produce was dried and sold in bulk or prepackaged.
On the second floor of the seafood market was a large restaurant. That is about as fresh as you can get.
You could even have the food cooked right at your table. Stir Fry or Hot Pot?
Our guide was still setting the pace, so we were not able to stop and sample anything they had to offer. All of the pictures I took here were videos on a GoPro camera. For this blog, I captured a few single frames from some of the video clips.
Not all of the seafood market was inside the building. There was a large street market under tarps extending for another block off to the side. They had a few booths with non-sea-related products, like pots and pans for cooking food. The walking is not done yet.
Maybe you are hungry and want to go back to the restaurant for lunch.
Like you, I don’t eat fish and hate the smell of fish markets. That market certainly has an abundance of seafood varieties. Thanks for sharing.
My wife wonders about how much is wasted. Are they catching more than they can use?
The real reason to mask on up, LOL! I don’t eat fish either as I am vegan, I am not judging others just saying I am like you and Florence above. But thank you for sharing this virtual tour!
Thanks Pamela. I like you phrase “mask on up”. I see too many masks on but not up or not up far enough. 😔
Even though I like to eat fish, even raw as in sushi, I am not a fan of the smell that is usually present, especially if it’s early in the morning.
That fish market looks impressively organized and “user friendly”.
My wife likes fish and says if it smells, it is not fresh. I do not mind going fishing and catching fish. I will even clean them.
