Japan Plan
This post is going to be a little different from most of the others I have posted to this site. I’m going to take a suggestion from Paul. His suggestion for today is to talk about a place you would like to travel to. Paul also talks about being in the groove but I am going to jump out of the groove, to do something differently. Paul says he would like to go to Fiji and I’m thinking about Fuji, as in Mount Fuji, so that would be a trip to Japan.
Nancy and I had a trip booked to cruise around Japan in early April 2020. That trip was to have started in Yokohama and was on the Princess Cruises Diamond Princess. Now if you know your recent history, you will realize that ship had some problems in March with COVID-19. So that cruise had to be canceled because the ship was not available and the crew was not available either. So we took that money and booked a cruise for the following year that would have been April 2021. Unfortunately that cruise was canceled too.
My wife and I would still like to visit Japan particularly during the Cherry Blossom time. The cruises that are offered now are not the same and not as comprehensive as the ones we had previously booked. So I think we will have to wait on that a little longer before we book another trip to Japan. In the meantime we do have a cruise booked to Iceland from Southhampton, UK in September 2022. Hopefully cruiseships will be operating by that time.
Not only am I making a different type of post here today I am doing it differently as well. I am dictating this into my phone I am grabbing some pictures from the web and uploading them to the webpage. Thanks Paul for the suggestion and the nudge to get me out of the groove.

Hi Doug, I’m an avid cruiser myself and have been put off by the recent cancelations. My sister trained in Japan, some years ago and it has been on my bucket list since then. I hope I get to visit sometime. Happy traveling!
Thanks Florence the cancelled trip itineraries were great with two visits to Korea. In one loop in the south an a second loop to the north.
I have never been on a cruise because my budget doesn’t permit them and also because I don’t have a traveling companion. But, if I did go on a cruise, the one that you suggested sounds quite ideal. I would love to visit Japan and to see Mount Fuji. Visiting Japan during cherry blossom time would be glorious.
