Spanish Riding School in Vienna
Does it make sense that a qualified young student could travel to Austria to attend a Spanish riding school and learn to ride the famous white Lipizzaner Stallions?
This is what has been written about the Spanish Riding School in Vienna
[it] “is the only institution in the world which has practiced for nearly 450 years and continues to cultivate classical equitation in the Renaissance tradition of the haute école.
The objective of classical equitation is to study the way the horse naturally moves and to cultivate the highest levels of haute école elegance the horse is capable of through systematic training. The result creates an unparalleled harmony between rider and horse, as only Vienna’s Spanish Riding School achieves.
The school is located in the center of historic Vienna.
You can buy a ticket to a concert which presents the highlights of the ballet of the White Stallions alternating with musical performances by the Vienna Boys’ Choir.

These horses are wonderful, incredible. I like the idea of learning to form a greater link between a rider and the horse. Lovely photos.
I never knew about this school and that it was one of a kind. One of my best friends is a horse lover and we always try to encompass some equestrian event for her when we travel. I will be sure to share this with her. Nice photos!
How interesting! They are such beautiful creatures!
Thank you for your comments. I am pleased that I decided to separate these pictures for a separate post. One never knows what will be interesting to others. Shorter posts are often better. Thanks to #blogboost for the Ultimate Blog Challenge.
I’ve always wanted to go to the Vienna Riding School, as a student rather than a spectator though :), it really is a wonderful and fascinating program! Great post!
