Old Eve

From time to time a house needs some maintenance. Sometimes it can be done by yourself, other times it is best done by a professional. Replacing eave troughs on a two story house requires ladders and more than one person. People are telling me I should not be climbing up ladders at my age. Well, since I am retired, I would not want to spend any of that valuable time recovering from an accident.

Even a company that specializes in roofing and eave trough installation seems to hire someone else to do the jobs they would rather not do.

For example, the old eave troughs are made of aluminium and they need to be taken away. There is an enterprising person that knows the value of recycling aluminium and has set himself up in a business of collecting aluminium and selling it to the recycling depots that specialize in buying aluminium.

This seems like a symbiotic relationship between the people that have to get rid of the aluminium and the one that can make money by taking it away.

Recycle your aluminium
That aluminium is worth something

Is there any special programs in your neighborhood for recycling aluminium?

    1. I woke up this morning with the recollection that an eve is not the same as an eave. That is to say New Years Eve is different from the eaves on a house. So, I went back into my post and corrected the text. I left the title “as is” because of all the links that point to it.

Thanks for looking at the pictures. Tell me what you liked, or didn't.
