Inside Seville’s Cathedral
Seville’s present gothic style cathedral was built between 1434 and 1517 when it replaced Hagia Sophia as the largest cathedral in the world at that time. It contains 80 chapels.
This church contains the tomb of Christopher Columbus as well as several Spanish kings and church leaders.
The main organ is located in the center of the worship space. below are views from each side.
The church contains many paintings form notable artists.
With 80 chapels there is room for a lot of sculptures and paintings. The cathedral was built to impress the business traders of the wealth of the city and its importance as the exclusive port for golds coming from the new world.
A bit too ornate for my taste. (Ok, I’ll call it for what it is- meretricious.)
Hola, Doug!
Que iglesia tan increible! Y contiene tantas ventanas pintadas! Y tiene el tombo del Cristobal Colombo!
Gracias por escribirlo.

80 chapels?? WOW, it boggles my mind how people could build things like this in the days of old without the heavy equipment and supplies that are around today. I love the stained glass windows!
