The trails are covered with fallen leaves and the trees are preparing for winter. It is a Tuesday afternoon and there are a lot of people enjoying the bright fall sunshine.
The trees on the sides of the driveway are aglow with their fall colours.
There are signs that someone is cutting down trees and cutting them up. I am assuming it is being done as part of the management of the park. These trees may have died of been diseased.
Most of the trees here are sugar maples. In the spring there is a maple syrup event here where the sap is collected from the trees and boiled to reduce the water and increase the sugar concentration. The wood from these trees can be used to provide the heat to boil the sap.
Doug, thanks for transporting me to this lovely Canadian location! I can feel the chill in the air and smell the leaves. Your forest photos, as your others, are so beautiful.
Some years there is snow on the ground by the end of October.
After the busy day that I have had, this was a nice break!
Thanks for taking me on another great hike.
The scenery here is so peaceful. Seeing that walking is my exercise of choice, I’d like to hike here.
