The Madagasca River winds its way trough the south-eastern part of Algonquin Park. This evening I was at the right spot at the right time to capture a sunset in this lovely part of the park. I was waiting at the top of the bank to get a reflection of the setting sun on the water. From up there, the sun was too bright and the reflection had already moved moved off of the water. By walking down the path to the river’s edge, I was rewarded with these wonderful views.
You may have heard that you can see a sunset more than once in an evening. The principal is simple, just watch the sunset from the bottom of a hill, then climb, or drive, to the top of the hill and you can watch it again. I was surprised how little that hill needs to be. Just look at the right hand shore in the picture above. The river and shore are in the shadow of the trees on the left shore. Here, the sun has already set. However if you look to the top right, the cottage is still in sunlight, the sun has not set there yet.
At the top of the ridge, about three meters (3 yards), The sun light is almost shinning at everything from the side making the shadows very long.
Looking back across the deck you can see how much the sun is above the horizon.
But the real beauty is down at the edge of the water.
The pictures are absolutely gorgeous. There is nothing to dislike… except me not being there!!! Blog on!
OMG what gorgeous photos! I love them all but the one with the sun on the cabin is spectacular!
Thanks Martha, Happy Independance Day!

I’ve never heard of this River which I can’t wait to share with my family. I just wish we had the opportunity to visit the River because it looks so calming and pretty. A great place to #Homeschool.
Hi Glenda, the next post shows a map of where in Ontario the resort is.
