Valencia parks and paella

An introduction to Valencia’s Parks and Paella

Two special things about Valencia that are not buildings are actually food and festivals. The first is a festival on the eve of spring called the Falles Festival. I was not there for that event so I will let you look that up on google, Wikipedia, youtube, or any site of your choice. The second one is about food. Paella is a special meal that is unique to this region. It is a rice and bean dish with chicken or rabbit, or less popular is fish. Least popular is a mix of fish and meat. It is cooked in a very large pan over a wood fire. There are a few restaurants along the beach that specialize in this meal. Bring a group of friends and order it ahead because the individual serving is probably from the freezer.

Traditional Paella

This is our special chef who explained the preparation of the dish and got things cooking. We did not have to wait for it to cook since we had booked ahead, they had a couple of varieties all ready for us.

On our way to the restaurant, we drove past many statues and parks.

The fountain above is near the landmark Cathedral of Valencia which is in the Plaza de la Virgen

What plaza is complete without pigeons?

Some parks have flowers, others have oranges.

Oranges?

When we finished the delicious Paella meal, it was almost 8:00 PM and the lights were being turned on.

colors change through blue and green.

  1. Thanks for sharing your experiences. I love paella. I am lucky that my sister makes it. She has to make it outside due to that size of the pan and the flame underneath. It’s delicious!

    1. That sounds like a great change to having a back yard barbeque and must bring back connections to Spain.
