Here are my reflections on the July 2018 blog challenge.
The challenge began on 1 July which was also the day that I was arriving on the other side of the pond in London England. I was going there to see my two week old granddaughter.
I had packed my laptop computer and an extra external hard drive with all the pictures I would be editing for the blog challenge. It seems like neither one enjoyed the trip across the ocean. The external hard drive would work for a few minutes then start slowing down and eventually quit responding.
The solution to that problem was to buy another X ternal hard drive in the UK and copy the files from the tired drive onto the new drive. It took a while because I could only copy about 50 files at a time before I had to let the drive take a rest.
After a few days in the UK windows 10 thought it was time to update my laptop. When I tried to sign in in the morning I found I was locked out of the login process and had only a temporary new minimal desktop workspace. I spent several days trying to work around that problem with no real solution. Everything I tried was taking a lot longer and sometimes things would not work the way they were supposed to.
When I got back home I tried to load the back up files but they did not seem to be working well either. Self diagnostics on the computer eventually thought it would be able to repair the files on the desk but what it said would take more than an hour ran for a couple of days with no indicated progress.
I guess it is time for a new computer. In the meantime I have been working with a little netbook computer running windows seven starter level and two gigs of memory. It will work with the new external hard drive. Unfortunately it will only work with an older picture editing program and it is very slow with that.
That is not the only challenge. Our home has been needing some updates as well. I knew furnace and air conditioner was installed on the day we came back from England. And on the last day of this month we had three new doors installed. It seems like there are so many interruptions and other things to be done that finding the time to get a post done every day really is a challenge.
So to all who have made it to the end of this challenge, congratulations even if you have not posted every day. I know you have more content now on your blog than you did at the beginning of the month.
Thank you Paul for making this space available and updating us with suggestions on the post for the day.
