On the northern coast of Iceland is a port called Akureyri. It is the fifth-largest community on the island and the largest in the northern region. At 65 degrees north latitude, it is only one degree south of the arctic circle. In spite of that, it is an ice-free port. Here are some pictures of the morning light at 7:10 AM on September 19, 2022.
These first pictures were taken from the Island Princess. My excursion for the day started early, by 9:00 A.M. I was on the bus to see the interesting parts of northern Iceland. Please join me as I share some of what I saw.

Iceland has recently been added to my bucket list. I’m a cold -water dipper and it would be so fun to test the waters there. Love your gorgeous photos
There are a lot of lakes if you want more than to dip your toe in the ocean. Stay away from the hot sulfur pools, they are boiling hot.
