Our one week cruise was starting today. We were to board the Costa Fortuna around 3:00 PM, all aboard was at 4:30 for an emergency safety drill and sail away at 5:00 PM. The plan was to return one week later, early in the morning, and fly back to England via British air. That flight was booked for 1:40 PM.
When we saw the ship pulling into harbour at 10:00 AM there was some concern that if this is what was to happen next week, we would not be able to get to the Venice Marco Polo Airport in time to catch that flight. You will hear that assumption in the conversation in the next video.
It takes a couple of hours to disembark the ship after it arrives in port. It is a very busy day for all of the staff. The cabin crew have to strip all of the beds and put on clean sheets in addition to all of the setup required in each cabin. Sometimes the passenger boarding is delayed while all this happens. However, The disembarking passengers are usually required to be out of their rooms by 8:00 AM and wait in the lounges until disembarking. This gives the cabin crew a head start on the turn around task.
We walked back to our hotel, picked up our luggage, checked out and arranged for a water taxi to take us to the cruise ship terminal. How does this look for a water taxi? Almost equivalent to a limousine.
Here is a video of the view from the water taxi as we make our way to the Cruise Ship Terminal.
We made it on time, got settled in, had dinner, and by 8:50 PM were enjoying a relaxing time in the Piazza Lounge.
I so loved seeing Venice. We didn’t go on a cruise — we did a bus tour. A cruise of the area might have been interesting!
A bus tour can do the night life of a city. Cruises bring their own entertainment with them.
Going on a ship cruise is a lot of fun. Thanks for sharing your adventure.
Some cruises 🚢 are more party oriented.
That’s some taxi! What a beautiful cruise you took us on today!
Just like calling a limo to go to the airport.
