The last two stops on our bus tour of the Snaefellsnes Peninsula show the ruggedness of Iceland’s coast. The first of the two is Hellnar. Once a thriving fishing village founded in the eleventh century it now is an overnight base for tourists exploring the island by car.
Unfortunately, the little Fjoruhusid Cafe was not open when we stopped by. Not a problem, there is a lot of food on the cruise ship and we will be back there by 3:30 in time for a snack before dinner.
See if you can spot these two buildings in the next video.
Hey Doug, I did spot the two houses in the video. As I watched your pictures, I could feel the bite of the cruising bug. Iceland is more beautiful than I envisioned. Thanks for taking me along on your travels.
Thank you for sharing this lovely peek at Iceland! Friends have visited, and one of Neville Schute’s books is set in Iceland!
Hmm – next adventures will likely be nearby – Pacific ocean and Cascade mountains!
I might have to go looking for some Neville Schute books. I have a fond
memory of reading the Trustee in the Tool Room when I was in high school.
Thank you, Doug. The videos are very restful and calm to watch. It’s nice to be an armchair traveller with your adventures!
Cheers
Ada
