Inverness

This is the capital of the Highland region of Scotland. The bus travels from Loch Ness following the River Ness as it flows north east to the North sea. The videos here are what you would see if you were seated on the right hand side of the coach. It is made up of several clips that have been patch together. I stopped the video recording when the bus stopped or the trees were blurring past so what the guide is saying is not a contiguous lecture.

Although the roads are modern, this is not your typical subdivision.

The city is built up along both sides of the river. Since the river is about one mile from the sea, there is a tidal rise and fall of the level of the water in the river.

After driving around Inverness, and describing what we should visit on our own, we were finally let off at the front of St. Andrews, the Scottish Episcopal church near the Palace Hotel. You may not recognize it as a Best Western Hotel and Spa.

The church was impressive and it was across the road from the River Ness. On the opposite side of the river there are several churches as well, like this one called the Ness Bank Church.

Just a short walk across the bridge, we are free to walk the streets and shop for a while.

Across the street from the clock tower is the Inverness Town Hall.
