From the port of Kristiansand in Norway, it is a half-hour drive to a popular vacation town called Lillesand. It is a well-sheltered harbour for leisure boats and a quaint old town style that definitely gives off the feeling of a vacation town.
Behind the red buildings is one of the many marinas. There are several vacant slips but it is mid-September and I am sure that is not the case in the summer months.
The ramp looks like it was built for launching boats, but the rocks suggest it is just used as a beach for children to play in the sand.
There are shops selling everything a tourist would want and even things they have not yet realized they want.
There are some benches to sit and admire the world sail by while you rest your tired feet from all of the shopping.
Some evenings they can provide music from the bandstand.
This is the hotel right in the centre of town if you want to stay a few days or more.
Maybe you could find a B&B in the town.
Are you planning your next vacation?
What a beautiful town! It looks so quaint and peaceful. I’ll take the Windy boat in your photograph!
I love those windows at the Hotel Norge!
Hi Diane, I have some great windows for you in the next post/
You take very good photos. I was also in Norway on same trip that I was in Denmark many years ago. I was in Lillehammer- before the Olympics I think. I googled and it is about 8 hours away from Lillesand. Thanks for the memories.
Sometimes it helps to see something different to highlight what is good about what we have and know.
In answer to that question on your blog, I now want to go go Lillesand today!! This place has won me over – thanks to your gorgeous pics
It is only a bus ride away from Kristiansand. 😉
