Picasso Square in Malaga, Spain
The renowned Pablo Picasso was born in Malaga. The city proudly remembers him. His childhood home has been turned into a mini-museum displaying some of his early work and telling the story of his life. The Fundación Picasso Museo Casa Natal is in the apartments, known as Casas de Campo, on one side of the square. In front, is a large square with a statue of Pablo sitting on a bench.
At the far end of the square from the corner where Pablo was born is this large obelisk. It is said to be the place where Pablo took his first steps. Notice the cathedral dome behind the buildings at the far end of the square. The square has other names such as Plaza del Mercado (Market Square) or Plaza de Riego (Riego Square), it is one of the most beautiful squares in the city.
Near the square, we stopped for a light lunch before returning to our hotel in Torremolinos. We could look up at the Alcazaba where we started our tour of Malaga in the morning.
The space around the restaurant was decorated for the festival with brightly colored art.
Built into the ground below the Alcazaba, are the ruins of a Roman theatre. (bottom right of picture below)
Wow, that looks like modern art heaven! I definitely want to go there. I’m ready to sit on a bench with my sketchbook and draw a portrait of an artist drawing a portrait of…
Wow, just wow. Even without the art it is a colorful place. I don’t draw, but love the work of others. The statue of Pablo makes me willing to have my picture taken if I can sit next to him. I’m looking forward to where you take me next.
Thanks for the comments. Have you heard of Granada? After that, I will have to choose from 244 pictures I have of the Alhambra.
