Norwegians have a love-hate relationship with trolls. They are reported to turn to stone if they are exposed to daylight and hence the number of rocky cliffs in the country. There were many statues in the town and I wonder if they might have been once trolls. Probably not, since most of the statues look too good and do not have tails visible.

I am not sure that trolls could be trusted with your library. They are known to be pranksters that do strange things at night.
