The beautiful Village of Alfarnatejo
We had to stop for lunch on our way to Granada. Since this tiny village was near the olive press operation it was an ideal choice. Our tour guide arranged for our group to have lunch in some of the local homes. We were divided up and hosted by several families in the village.
This is a picture of our lovely host who opened her home to about 8 of our tour group, cooked and served a lovely lunch for us.
About 400 people live in this village nestled in the valley at the foot of the mountains.
It is quite clear that they have pride in their homes.
But with a view like this, how would you feel.
The most well know building in the village is the Iglesia Parroquial del Santo Cristo de Cabrilla. Originally built in the 18th century, this is the 20th century rebuild.
After lunch we gathered back at the bus by the municipal park on the edge of town.
There. I want to go there. That is gorgeous. And I need to practice my Spanish. Um. A long visit would be very nice. A really long visit. Weeks. Months. More. I’m entirely enamored. Thank you for the photo essay and virtual tour, Doug.
HI Alice, thanks for the comment. I like Duolingo as a program for learning languages.
I love that tower. It reminds me of being 4-5 years old, out and about with my parents, and getting gently scolded for trying to scale the historical monuments. I also love the white walls of the houses, how happy your host looks, and the mountains in the background. Everything, really. I wouldn’t mind a nice long stay there myself.
Hi Daria, thanks for the comment. I was only there for a couple of hours but I am thankful to have the photos and the blog challenge that lets me revisit the many places I have passed through in this wonderful world.
Like Alice, I want to visit this little village for a nice long visit.. and this reminded me of Obidos, a beautiful little town we did visit years ago in Portugal..
thank you once again
Hi Vidya, thanks for the comment. I visited Obidos on this trip and have a couple of posts with pictures to refresh your memory. https://jarvie.ca/obidos
WOW, those photos are exquisite! I love how you captured the mountains behind the narrow street. And so clean and well kept!
Thanks for the comment Martha. I cannot take any credit for the clean and tidy, but with only 400 residents, there may be more accountability.
