Alhambra

Views from the Alhambra in Granada, Spain

The Alhambra stands on a hill on the edge of the city of Granada in the Andalusia region of Spain. It was built as a fortress in 889. It was built overtop of older Roman ruins. Part of it is still a fortress. In the 13th century a palace was added for the Emirate of Granada. The palace grew over the years with additions of another “Quads” which open onto a central court.

The restored museum is an example of the Moorish architecture. It is one of Spain’s top tourist attractions. Over time it has continually been destroyed, left to ruin, restored, and then the cycle would repeat.

A view over the gardens.

From the palace there is a great view over the gardens,

Spring is a beautiful time in the garden

and also the city of Granada.

There are other hills all around.

This is a great vantage point to see what your neighbours are doing.

Watch for other posts of pictures of the gardens, and the inside and outside of the Alhambra.

  1. I had a wonderful time walking around Al Hambra and the surrounding area. So much so that my great friend and I almost missed our ship’s departure. (Yes, we really had to jump to get onto the ship!) But, that just made the experience even grander

Thanks for looking at the pictures. Tell me what you liked, or didn't.
