Canada Day Parade Day

Canada day is a great day to celebrate the Confederation of our country. It was previously known as Dominion Day for the Dominion of Canada. It is also the first day of the July blog challenge. As in several previous challenges over the years, I am posting some pictures of our local parade. Although I did not watch the parade this year, and I did not post the pictures from last years parade, I will start this challenge with a few of those pictures.

Although we are a small town, I am submitting this picture to prove, that if you look carefully, this is not a “one horse town”. We do hold on to some of the symbols of the past, for example, the parade is led by the town crier. He is prominent in the header photo of this post. Does your community have a “Town Crier”? ( I do not mean a new paper.)

What is a parade without a band? We are fortunate to have several visiting from local communities and organization.

Many of the entries are walking, or dancing, but some are on wheels.

Some of these vehicles are so old they may have been in the original parades. I know they have been around longer than I have been in town. The next entry is new to me, maybe making its debut in 2025

This is one of the favourite bands and usually is at the end of the parade like Santa Clause is at the end if the Christmas parades. Now what is a band or a dance if you cannot see the motion or hear the music? Watch for the next post to see and hear the videos that these still images were taken from. Today is a Wednesday but I have said too much to claim a “wordless-Wednesday”.
