Guarda, Portugal

Located  near the Spanish boarder at 1000 meters altitude, this is one of the highest spots in Portugal. On our journey from Salamanca, Spain to Porto, Portugal, we stopped for coffee at the welcoming Hotel Mira Serra in Celorico da Beira about 10 kilometers north of Guarda.

The interior was uniquely decorated with one of a kind furniture pieces and original artwork by a local artist who appears to be painting on location.
