Halloween 2020

This evening I made my last walk around the neighbourhood for the month of October. I took my camera with the intent of sharing what I could see of the Halloween spirit. Although our government is suggesting that people do not do the usual “Trick or Treat” routine of shelling out candy for the young ones that come to knock on your door, there is still a Halloween spirit. It is evident in the way people are decorating their homes for the event.

Some homes are acknowledging Halloween.

So far, 2020 has been a different year for Halloween as well as almost everything else due to concerns for personal health safety from Covid_19 and government recommendations about what we should and should not be doing. Most are complying with the rules and showing no response. Many have no decoration and do not get into the spirit. Some make a simple statement to acknowledge it is pumpkin pickin’ time.

Some acknowledge Halloween simply.

Others, “adult children”, have been decorating their homes for years and take pleasure and pride in what they do. Here are some examples I found this afternoon.

Enjoy the galleries of home photos.

Some are well themed.

A land locked pirate free to roam the spirit world.

Some are very elaborate and contain a lot of detail.

Decorating all of the available space.

Some represent family, but stay away from Dad’s garage.

The Adams family?
Probably not the Adams family.
Didn’t I tell you to stay away from Dad’s garage?

Some are definitely understated.

Welcome to what?
Welcome to this.

The blow up characters are popular.

I huffed and I puffed and I hyperventilated.

Beware, there is a large cat roaming the neighbourhood. It is big, black, and has a sweet tooth.

Some are welcoming and even consider lighting the path for you. See the little line up on the bottom left.

Happy little luminaries.

  1. Oooh, what fun! I love Halloween. It is my favorite holiday. I love dressing up in a costume. This year, I wore my costume to my tap dance class. i was Mary Poppins, and that was great fun. We danced to the theme song of the Addams family. So much fun!!! Thank you for sharing your Halloween with me and don’t forget to blog on!

  2. Your neighborhood has so much spirit! Our neighborhood used to be like that but this year, enthusiasm is down. I especially liked the house with the killer on the roof (smile) and the one with the 3 ghosts in the window!

    Congrats on completing the challenge!

Thanks for looking at the pictures. Tell me what you liked, or didn't.
