InverGordon Scotland

In the Highlands of Scotland in a bay called Cromarty Firth is the town of Invergordon. It has a cruise port where our ship docked and our bus tour of this part of Scotland began. In the early hours of the morning, before dawn, this light marks the location of a semi-submersible oil drilling rig. It is one of many that have been sold for demolition but “red tape” is hampering its movement to another location for decommissioning.

Scotland is self-sustaining because of the large amount of beef and dairy farming that augment the fishing industry. You may have heard that Liquor is also a popular export.

One of the best ways to see the country is by riding through it on a bicycle. Depending on your point of view, a better way may be riding through the country in a motor coach or tour bus. That’s my first choice. The best time to take pictures is when the bus slows down when travelling through towns. This is the village of Muir of Ord.

Sit back and listen to the tour guide. I have slowed the video down a little to give more time to see the fields so he may sound like he is speaking a little slowly. There are controls at the bottom of the videos to play them slower or faster and to choose a higher quality for a sharper picture if your computer is capable of that.

The industry he was talking about is the SGL Carbon company which manufactures carbon fibre.

In this part of the country, the River Beauly meanders through the farmland.
