Kristiansand Viewed from the Port

Although I did not venture into the city of Kristiansand, I did take some photos from the upper decks of the Island Princess before we set sail for Haugesund, Norway.

Wouldn’t you respect to see shipping containers at a shipping dock?

As you can see from the variety of pictures, Norway is a country with many different landscapes and building styles.

And all of these are visible from the deck of the ship.

Here is something else you would expect to see along the coast.

Let me show you a couple of things you might not expect to see.

What is that? – Dinosaur bones?

No, they are not dinosaur bones. Fortunately, I saw them up close earlier in the day while cruising around the coastal islands. Here is a closer look.

This is one of the specialty ships that are designed to lay pipes on the bottom of the sea to bring the oil from the North Sea to refineries on the mainland.

Another thing I saw earlier in the day while riding the bus back from Lillesand may need explanation. It is helpful to have a knowledgeable guide to explain these odd things.

You may know that Norweigean Skiers are gathering a lot of Olympic medals. They have the mountains and the snow in winter to get in a lot of practice. But ski jumping requires something more, like maybe no fear of heights.

Thanks for the memories

  1. Like I might have mentioned here earlier Doug, we have been watching the National Geographic series – Europe From Above – over the last few weeks and it is simply amazing to watch the beauty of our world through the year.. Norway was one recent watch .. and between the show and posts like yours, my travel urges are stronger..

Thanks for looking at the pictures. Tell me what you liked, or didn't.
