Le Louvre

Glimpses of Le Louvre

I cannot give you a complete tour of the world famous museum of art but I offer up a glimpse of what you will find inside. Fortunately the internet has an extensive collection for you to explore.

There is a vast cavern below the streets where all of the tour busses park and drop of the visitors. Elevators lift the crowds up to the ticket office / lobby where groups assemble, buy refreshments, and visit washrooms before the tours begin.

The building itself is a work of art in addition to the masterpieces it contains.

Fortunately photographs are allowed in many of the rooms as long as flash is not used.

I am not a student of art so I cannot comment on the wonderful creations within the museum. My visit was guided so that our group could see the highlights in the afternoon scheduled for us. It is possible to spend a lifetime admiring all of the beauty captured in these buildings.

Some of the sculptures and paintings are well known and are well documented in other places. In this brief post I can only give a quick glimpse of such a vast collection, all of which is never all on display at the same time.

  1. WOW, just WOW!!! So much beauty under one roof! I’m in awe as to how the artists can paint such gorgeous ceilings! The inverted pyramid is breathtaking, I also watched the youtube video! Definitely would love to visit Le Lourve. Thanks for sharing such beautiful photos.

  2. I grew up a coffee-table book “Art Treasures of the Louve,” (well, Sanka-table, LOL) and spent hours admitting those treasures! What a wonderful trip this must have been!
My art teacher Maestra Shiloh Sophia and her husband got her mentor, Sue Hoya Sellers to the Louve in 2014! And to Chartes Cathedral, to visit the (whitewashed!!) Black Madonna of the pillar 🙁

Thanks for looking at the pictures. Tell me what you liked, or didn't.
