There is water flowing through the Rouge River valley. It is used by the zoo to cool and hydrate the residents. They definitely appreciate it. The elk has learned to drink from the sprinkler and wash his feet.

Just as the eagle likes to be by the water the capabara also like to feed by the water. The capabara is the largest living rodent weighing up to one hundred and fifty pounds (68 Kg.) and measuring up to four feet long. It is a native of South America and gathers in social groups.
