Changing of the Guard

While I am on a theme of parades and bands, lets look at the military guard bands that take part in the changing of the guard ceremonies at Buckingham Palace.

They take place twice a day on several days each week. There is a schedule and there are several military units that take on the duties. The schedule changes so check before you head out. There is no charge.

In the bottom right corner of the video player are some controls to select better quality and change the playback speed.

People line up at the main gate to take selfies and pictures of what goes on behind the gates.

They also gather around the Queen Victoria Memorial fountain for pictures

When looking through the bars, I cannot help but wonder who is in the cage, is it me?

What do I do when the music is good but the camera position is all wrong? For example in the next video I could not get close enough or high enough to get a good video. So I put a different video over-top of the music track.

I can do a similar thing when the video needs something to tie a bunch of clips together. I used the audio track from a different recording to provide a background music for a selection of clips. Here is a quick example of inspecting the guard that I put together for this blog post.

  1. fabulous photos – I really enjoyed your gallery and compositions of the photos and videos – it brings back memories to when I was several decades younger, and I went to visit the palace – haven’t been back since -but it certainly made an impression – so lavish and ornate – a real experience! alice 🙂

Thanks for looking at the pictures. Tell me what you liked, or didn't.
