Curb your enthusiasm

Sometimes you do not have to go anywhere to find entertainment, it is brought to your door, or left on the curb. Imagine waking up one morning to this racket outside your home. You look out your door and watch a machine ripping up your curb. To be fair, they did leave a notice at the door to warn that the work was going to happen. At the end of the day, this is what was left. I am glad they asked us to park our cars on a side street that they were not working on. It would have been hard on the car to try to back it out of the driveway across that trench.

The old curbs had been there since the subdivision was built over 30 years ago. There were places where it had to be repaired, but some sections were more bad than good so the entire section was removed.

What is left of the curb

Some sections of the sidewalk are being updated too. There was some collateral damage, like these sprinkler heads and some telephone cables. By the time the project was completed, a few weeks later, these things had all been repaired.

Those sprinkler heads might need some attention.
Hangin’ in there,

And here is a video of how they did it. There is sound associated with it. Watch for the tip of a hat from the man with the shovel about 1:55 into the video.

This is where the noise comes from.

Do you like to watch machines at work or is it the men at work that interests you?

  1. Lia loves watching the big machinery especially “scoop” and “digger” trucks. Our subdivision is close to 30 years old also and they are repairing the drainage pipes under the road so we have both road and sidewalks torn up. To add a bit more excitement the hit a water line and some homes were without water. Fun, fun to watch and Lia took the crew a box of her cookies.

Thanks for looking at the pictures. Tell me what you liked, or didn't.
