Flying Around Kenora

Flying Around Kenora

If you look up, there is always something flying around Kenora. It could be a duck or goose or bald eagle. It could be a helicopter or an airplane fitted with pontoons for landing on the water.

More than 300 bald eagle nests can be seen around the lake. This is a sign that the effort to eliminate DDT weed killer in the environment has allowed the egg shells to harden properly for the chicks to survive.

The Orange Ambulance service is busy year round transporting anyone needing medical assistance to the regional hospital.

Many of the flights begin and end at the dock just behind the main street. Can you imagine having to fly into town for groceries? Many of the flights will take a fishing party out to a remote lake to catch the “big ones”.  For the bigger parties they have bigger planes.

These people came down to the dock to look at the planes and take some pictures. Now they are interested in the cruise boat I am taking their picture from.

Now we have to get over to the dock. We flew by it when we were landing. It is back the other way.

  1. Hello, from a fellow Canadian! I currently live in PEI, but am originally from North Western Quebec (Rouyn/Noranda). I love the images you’ve posted. They remind me of my hometown and cottage life and fishing from many years ago (which I really miss). Your post brought me smiles and nice memories.

    1. Thanks Jane. Cottage life is great and leaves many great memories for most who experience it. It is my pleasure to be able to share these pictures on #blogboost.

Thanks for looking at the pictures. Tell me what you liked, or didn't.
