Haugesund views from the Port

From the upper decks of the Island Princess cruise ship, with a telephoto lens, it is interesting what can be seen.

Looking out to the North Sea from Haugesund harbour.
One of the terminal buildings.
There is a shuttle tram to give rides into town.

The telephoto lens makes the church look closer than it really is. It is about a 20-minute walk away.

We are docked on an island which is separated from the mainland by a channel and connected by a bridge.
A nationally funded Theatre for professional quality productions.

More pictures of the town are in the previous post without the telephoto lens. From the “HAVN”, there are interesting things towards the North Sea.

Would you like to rent a holiday apartment out there?

There are many international companies in Norway. Aibel is one of the largest suppliers to the energy industry working on the continental shelf. They are building and maintaining platforms for offshore wind farms as well as providing power for the oil and gas extraction from the North Sea.

Norway as a nation is environmentally conscious. Hence wind farms at sea and a high percentage of forested areas throughout the country. The ferry ship below is powered by natural gas, a cleaner burning fuel than bunker oil used by many tankers and some cruise ships.

Back to our travelling home for the next two weeks.

  1. You have a very good camera. Wonderful photos as always. And what a big ship! I haven’t been on a cruise for a very long time. I’m not sure if I will go on one again. It had been my favourite way to travel.

Thanks for looking at the pictures. Tell me what you liked, or didn't.
