Reykjavik

Iceland’s capital city is the largest on the island with a population of about a quarter million. It is located in the southwestern part of the island. Since it is close to the Arctic Circle, it has short winter daylight hours and long days in the summer. The ocean currents keep it milder in the winter but it is prone to high winds all year round.

Good Morning Reykjavik

We arrived about 7:00 AM on September 21, autumn equinox. A couple of the pictures reflect that early hour.

Reykjavik is under the leftmost red flag above. It is a busy port serving the busiest part of the island.

It must be a civilized place because there is a KFC. I wonder what their most popular coffee chain is.

Driving out of the city you will notice that there is a lot of construction going on in the city with new buildings and on the roads with improved highways.

The land is fertile and there are a lot of farms. If you like to look at the ocean, there is a lot of coastline. If you prefer the mountain views, that is available too.
