Loading Luggage

Imagine three thousand passengers unloading and another three thousand boarding in the same day. All of the cabins have to be emptied, beds stripped and re-made with clean sheets. All of the garbage has to be unloaded and a shipment of food, drinks, and all other consumables restocked.

This is not enough for 3000 people. There must be more somewhere else.
Each bus fills three cages with luggage.

Each bag has a tag that identifies what room it is to be delivered to.

Here is the person who is in charge of making sure that the passengers have a great vacation. Notice the three bars on the shoulders. The job is described as “hotel manager”. That means there are a lot of other staff members reporting to her. (notice the multiple communications device required. ) Part of the job involves checking the delivery of supplies to the ship. There will be kitchen staff there doing inspections of the food before it is loaded onto the ship.

Sometimes it is difficult to tell the crew from the passengers. How they are using their technology is a clue.

Passengers of crew?

There is so much happening, that distractions happen. I hope this doesn’t happen to you.

  1. That’s a lot of luggage! The “hotel manager” would love Rich, he can pack a weeks worth of clothes in a small carry on style duffle bag! Our granddaughter on the other hand, needs 2 huge suitcases for a two day get away!

    1. With practice I am getting better at taking less. I got so tired of dragging more around. Now I pack twice. First what I want to take, then I reduce it to what I need to take. A few wants tend to creep back into the bag if there is room.

  2. some times it is so important that what we bring gets there to where it belongs so thankful for individuals that treat it like the important job it is

  3. that hotel manager sure has a huge responsibility and her checklist must be so long.. there is so much going on behind the scenes to make our travel comfortable and seamless

    1. Perhaps you already know about the number of bars on the shoulder epaulets, more bars equals a higher ranking.
An airline captain often joked that three bars means “Its My Fault”
and four bars means “Its NOT my fault”.

Thanks for looking at the pictures. Tell me what you liked, or didn't.
