Bari San Nicola Basilica

San Nicola Basilica was built between 1087 and 1197 to house the relics of Saint Nicholas. There are many saints named Nicholas, and many legends of the Saint Nicholas of Bari. Search Google for those stories and also search for more details of the church.

While we waited in the courtyard to enter the church, someone pointed out where we were on the map.

In earlier posts I showed pictures of #8 Teatro Margherita and #10 Castello Normanno-Svevo. This post is #3.

Here is a video of what we could see from the front and from the back courtyard. Sorry it was not bright enough to make a video inside.

  1. Absolutely breathtaking photos! The thing that is most amazing to me is how they built such beautiful Cathedrals way back without any machinery. It’s amazing what people didn’t with their hands back then and they are still standing.

Thanks for looking at the pictures. Tell me what you liked, or didn't.
