Fredericia’s Interesting Buildings

By European standards, Fredericia is a rather new city. It was founded in 1650 by Frederick III and has a population of 40,886 as of January 1, 2022. Here are some of the older buildings and more typical ones of downtown.

This is one of the older buildings. It sits on a Foundation of Rocks and rough-hewn Timber. It has received a lot of love to keep it looking so well and it looks like it is still serving a useful purpose.

Some intersections have lights and some are more interesting than others.

There is a monument in town to remember the “Foot Soldier” or Landsoldaten. Rather than remember the general, this acknowledges that the real victory of June 6, 1849, belongs to the soldiers on the rampart. Our guide alluded to the fact that this was the only military victory Denmark could claim.
